Alex Leadley – Project Co-ordinator

alex@skillsetacademiplus.org

After studying Drama at The University of Manchester, Alex spent 10 years working in TV co-production and distribution both in London and Cardiff. After the arrival of her 2 daughters, she joined the Skillset Screen Academy Wales back in 2009 and spent 2 and a half years working as their Placement Coordinator – helping students and graduates from the Academy’s 26 accredited courses find industry based opportunities to enhance their academic studies. Alex also ran the successful Post Graduation Facility, funded by HEFCW, which was a 4 month programme of bespoke industry training, work experience and careers advice for a handful of carefully selected graduates. She was the coordinator of the Screen Academy/National Council for Drama Training programme of intensive 35mm workshops for 24 actors in 2009-10.

Alex is delighted to have now moved into the CPD arm of our growing family of training brands to become the Project Coordinator for Skillset Academi + .

Skillset Academi + is an ambitious and exciting project ensuring CPD training and opportunities are reaching all corners of Wales and that we are creating an increasingly competitive pool of creative Welsh talent.

Tom Evans – Project Administrator

info@skillsetacademiplus.org

After graduating Aberystwyth University in 2004 with a BA in Film & Television studies and Drama, Tom found himself working for a Cardiff Based Commercial Bank before moving to BBC Wales as a finance assistant for Doctor Who, Torchwood and the Sarah Jane Adventures. From here he moved into production where he spent several years working in various roles including floor runner, office runner and stand-by props.

Having decided to move away from Drama Production, Tom joined the HEFCW funded Pilot Phase of the Skillset Academi+ project in September 2010 and is excited to be seeing the project into its exciting new phase as part of Higher Skills Wales’ Work Based Learning Programme, funded by the EU’s Convergence European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.

hannah@mediaacademywales.org

Hannah is the Manager of the Skillset Media Academy Wales, a partnership between 4 Universities in Wales.

Having graduated from Aberystwyth University with an MA Theatre Film and TV and Bath University with a BA Modern Languages and European Studies, Hannah worked as a Location Scout for the Wales Screen Commission and Locations Assistant for feature and short films based around Mid Wales. At the same time she worked as Administrator on the Aberystwyth Celtic Film and TV Festival before moving to Sgrin Cymru Wales in 2000.

At Sgrin, Hannah progressed from PA to the Chief Executive to Marketing Manager (International and UK) managing the Welsh presence at Cannes and Edinburgh film festivals, and then Marketing Manager UK and Coordinator of the Celtic Film and TV Festival Cardiff 2005 which was the most successful event for the Festival franchise in terms of audience numbers and industry partnerships.

Hannah joined the Media Academy as Manager in 2006 and has seen it grow from an organization supporting students and graduates alone to a 360⁰ training provider which is involved with outreach projects with schools (Film Club) through to short courses for industry practitioners.

Hannah is a Board Member of BAFTA Cymru, Ffresh Student Moving Image Festival of Wales and Zoom Young People’s Film Festival and represents Wales on the Skillset Media Academy UK Network.
