CCI represents diverse, multi-disciplinary groupings and supports a rich cultural and scholarly environment, which provides specialist and hybrid undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree programmes. These include: animation (formally GCADT), new and interactive media, television studies, media production, film and video production, performance, communication and cultural studies, print, broadcast and online journalism, radio, and film and TV set design. These disciplines underpin interlocking academic awards that share modules and create opportunities for collaboration and cross-media content production. The Faculty is developing strategic relationships with Hewlett Packard, Sony, and Apple, and aims to create a hybrid centre for digital media innovation and enterprise.
CCI provides an environment in which teaching is underpinned by research – including applied and industry-facing research – of national and international standing, and is undertaken in state-of-the-art facilities. CCI submitted to two units of assessment in the 2008 RAE and up to 40% of its research was rated as either world-leading or internationally excellent.
