The Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies plays a key role in developing talented individuals who go on to excel within the Creative Industries. Home to a large and diverse body of UK and international students, the department’s mission is to contribute nationally and internationally through learning, research, analysis, the transfer of knowledge and intercultural discussion.

TFTS has a reputation for innovation in the provision of Welsh-language media education, hosting an S4C broadcasting compliance unit, and has also developed a unique collaboration with Boomerang, one of the largest media companies in the UK. Strong industry links and partnerships, as well as WAG supported enterprise schemes, ensure that students find valued employment with the cultural and creative industries.
TFTS was ranked 2nd in the UK in research capacity in the recent Research Assessment Exercise. 30% of its output was considered to be word class and another 30% of international distinction.
