Skillset Media Academy Wales
Co-ordinated by the University of Wales, Newport, the new Skillset Media Academy Wales also involves Aberystwyth University, Cardiff University and the University of Glamorgan’s Cardiff School of Creative & Cultural Industries, and supports undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in animation, documentary and fashion photography, television, radio and media production, broadcast and online journalism as well as digital media and games design.
The Skillset Media Academy Network is a UK-wide group of Centres of Excellence in creative media education and training. The institutions in the network have been identified by Skillset on behalf of the UK television and interactive industries.

Skillset, Sector Skills Council for the Creative Media Industries
Skillset Cymru work with industry, training and education providers, and public agencies in Wales to make sure training provision meets industry needs. The Skillset Census estimates suggest that there are over 600 businesses operating within the creative media sector in Wales, with a total turnover of £350m making it Wales’ largest arts and cultural sub-sector.
The Skillset Cymru Training Framework for the creative media industries has been developed to support Freelancers and production companies in Wales, and to maintain the standard of skills and training within our sector.
The Skillset Cymru Training Framework was developed in partnership with S4C and the Welsh Assembly Government and offers support to Creative Media companies and freelancers working in the TV, Film, Radio, Interactive Media, Animation, Computer games, Facilities, Photo-imaging and Publishing Industries.

Work Based Learning Programme of Higher Skills Wales
The Work Based Learning Programme (WBL) is a £34million programme led by the University of Glamorgan Working in partnership with the HE and FE sector across the whole of Wales. The programme will provide those employed in the private sector that are living and/or working within West Wales and the Valleys, the opportunity to study towards a University accredited course.
A key fact of the programme is that thanks to funding from the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government, those wishing to take part in the programme could benefit from either a fully funded or part funded place on one of the courses provided by the programme.
The Work Based Learning Programme is a fantastic opportunity to study and gain University level credits. Not only will it improve you and your workforce’s knowledge and skills, it will help pave the way to make your business more competitive in the market place.
